Biodiversity refers to the variety of life forms, including plants, animals, microorganisms, and the ecosystems in which they exist. It encompasses genetic diversity, species diversity, and ecosystem diversity. Genetic diversity within species ensures resilience and adaptability, allowing populations to withstand environmental changes. Species diversity is vital for maintaining ecosystem stability, as each species has a unique role to play. Ecosystem diversity refers to the range of habitats, such as forests, wetlands, and coral reefs, each with its own distinct community of species.

Biodiversity provides a wide range of benefits that are crucial for human well-being.
